Great English results don't come from memorising essays. They come from learning how to think, read deeply and write with purpose. That's the philosophy behind everything at The Reading Fox.

Fifi is an accredited secondary English teacher with more than 15 years of experience across government, Catholic and independent schools in NSW. She began her career as a NSW Department of Education Targeted Graduate, a distinction awarded to the highest-performing teaching graduates in Australia, and has since worked as both a NAPLAN writing marker and an HSC marker.

Having taught through three successive NSW syllabus changes, Fifi brings extensive experience across English EAL/D, Standard, Advanced and Extension courses. Her teaching experience also includes English within the IB Diploma Programme. She has taught almost every prescribed text on the NSW senior syllabus and understands how English is assessed from the inside. That knowledge informs the teaching, resources and feedback students receive at The Reading Fox.

Fifi holds a Master of Teaching from the University of Sydney and a Bachelor of Arts majoring in English Literature and Children’s Literature from Deakin University. She also holds degrees in Commerce and Economics from UNSW. At Deakin, she received the Alfred Deakin Medal, the university’s highest honour for academic achievement and contribution, awarded to the top student across the Faculty of Arts and Education from a cohort of more than 15,000 students.

Her students have consistently achieved Band 6 results and state rankings across some of Sydney’s most competitive schools. Yet the progress she values most is not always captured by a mark. It can be seen when a student begins to trust their own ideas, writes with greater clarity and finally feels proud of a subject they once found difficult.

At The Reading Fox, Fifi combines rigorous literary study with careful individual guidance. Her aim is not simply to prepare students for an examination, but to help them become more perceptive readers, more controlled writers and more independent thinkers.
